Soundtrack for Lucky Punch

First Song : Ed Sheeran - Wayfaring Stranger

Ed Sheeran, British born singer, songwriter and producer began recording in 2005 and moved to London to persue his career in 2008. After breaking through commercially in 2011 he signed to Atlantic Records. Since his career began, Sheeran has won 2 BRIT Awards for Best British Male and British Breakthrough of the Year along with the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.  His song Wayfaring Stranger an adaption from the original Wayfaring Stranger by Johnny Cash caught my immediate attention when listening to it as beat in the introduction and throughout sounds extremely similar to the sound made when punching a punching bag.  Using the music editing software Garage Band i plan to edit the song using the timings from 0:11 seconds to 0:43 seconds, fading out from 0:35 seconds. With the sound of beat being a dominant part of the song i feel it will help set the scene and link in nicely to my opening shot of the character of Tom running to the gym in the early hours of the morning and practising his punches once in the gym on a punching bag.  Although the genre of Sheerans music "Nu-folk" doesn't have much connection with boxing, it is the contrast and the beat that links it and makes it effective. The same idea was used in Award winning film "Raging Bull" with the classical piece of music Intermezzo by Pietro Mascagni.

Second Song : Right Here, Right Now - Fatboy Slim

Also British born, Norman Cook otherwise known as 'Fatboy Slim' is a DJ, Musician and Record Producer known for his genre of Dance music. Reaching No.2 in the British charts, the basic string melody of the song was sampled from the James Gang song "Ashes, the Rain & I ". Right Here, Right Now has already been used for numerous different sporting events such as 3 of the Super Bowl's : XL XLIII and XLV. It has also been used in Premier League football games as well as in the  Australian Football and this summers Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony. With the genre of my film being a British Sports Drama, a song that has had recognition in many momentous sporting events would be appropriate and help create a successful representation. For the film trailer i am intending on editing the song using the same software i plan to edit Wayfaring Stranger with. How i edit and cut the song is dependant on the footage which i need to film first but i intend to end on 1:19 when the beat drops.

LOCATION FOR LUCKY PUNCH

Howsman Road, Barnes, London SW13

For the first scene of the film trailer, i will shoot Jake running down the street in the same route that the white line is travelling. Being a council estate, showing this in the background as he runs will help the audience to immediately relate/understand the sort of background the character comes from.

This shows Howsman Road from an ariel view, this is useful as it shows the total distance the actor will run as we film him and gives us an idea of the surrounding area.

A wider ariel shot of Howsman Road located in Barnes, from the shot we can see the location from a wider perspective.

LOCATION : LUCKY PUNCH

 LOCATION 3 : Bryanston Street Car Park , W1H 7EH

Shot 1 :

Marker "A" shows the location of the car park on a large scale. Located on Brystan Street a back street behind Oxford Street, it appears to be in a busy working class area , the type of location i am trying to demonstrate the character doing work in.

Shot 2:

Shot 2 shows Bryanston Street, the car park located in the middle of the street. From this image we get an outside view of the car park.

Shot 3:

The area marked by the red lines shows the 5 stairwells on each floor of the car park. With no windows, just metal gates, the stairwells have just enough light for the shot to be clearbut creates a dark enough effect to foreshadow and set the right mood for the fight scene that i plan to shoot in there.

Shot 4:

Shots above show the inside of the car park on the stairwell from the Ground floor to the 1st floor. With its plain design and its grey/ illuminate lighting, the location is appropriate for the scene i plan to shoot. The character of Tom will exchange drugs on the stairwell and threaten the other character in the scene. Taking place in a well looked after location for example the stairwell of a shopping mall or house wouldn't be a realistic representation.

Cast Members for "Lucky Punch"

1) TOM - PLAYED BY JAKE RACZ

Already being a MMA competition winner, Jake has experience in the field of fighting and has the physique that is appropriate for the character of Tom. He look British with pale skin which is appropriate for
the character

2) SHELLEY - played by Kate Stewart

With acting experience, and the right looks i feel that Kate successfully represents a teenage girl from a lower/working class background.  The character of shelley is a bad influence on others and due to her upbringing a girl with bad manors and morals. With costume and makeup i feel Kate can successfully depict this role.

3) FRASER - played by Angus Mcevoy

Interesting in studying drama, and growing up in a rough area, Angus has experience with the type of people that represent the type of characters with the certain type of backgrounds that im interested in. Working previously with Jake who is playing Tom, i feel the two actors will feel comfortable and have no problems working together in the fight scene to make it effective.
